Java Central Coffee Roasters
opened in 2016 as Westerville’s first and only coffee roaster! As an extension of Java Central’s café, we seek to share the fascinating process of coffee production with our community, as well as provide a local source for unique and interesting coffees from around the world.
Our head roaster and coffee buyer, Andy Piper, is a Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) certified coffee roaster and green coffee buyer – one of only a few in Central Ohio. Andy regularly visits coffee farms around the world to learn, teach and ultimately purchase the coffees we serve and sell at Java Central. He has taught courses at Otterbein and OSU on coffee agriculture and contributes field research for climate change studies.
Coffee roasting requires an incredible amount of training, education and practice. It is both a culinary science and an art. Java Central’s approach to roasting focuses on data collection and continual quality control testing. This ensures every cup you brew is consistently great. Check out our currently featured roasts!
