Every thriving community has that one special place. It’s that place where we connect with our friends and neighbors. It’s the place where we had our first date, built a startup, finished reading our favorite novel. Java Central is that special gathering place.
All are welcome at our table. In our café, people are free to actively engage with each other’s daily lives. We share a common interest, time and location. A common humanity. People come to discuss, to laugh, to learn, and even to cry, with each other over a cup of coffee in a warm and welcoming and safe place – a refuge at times from the rest of life.
Over the past 14 years we have evolved and become an interesting collection of our own diverse communities – our weekday regulars, the music night patrons, our Sunday morning debaters, our musicians and artists who share and network. We cherish and protect artistic expression of all kinds. We advocate for those who are marginalized within our own neighborhood. We offer a platform for those without a voice to be heard.
Our passion is to serve people by serving coffee. In 2016, we decided to expand our concept of community and include the great people who produce, process and move our coffee. We opened Java Central Coffee Roasters as a way to bring our supply chain closer and ensure the coffee we serve is handled with respect to all involved. Java Central has worked hard to visit our farm partners where they live. We believe by connecting and working directly with coffee producers, we uphold the integrity of the coffee we serve at home.
We have often heard from people “Thanks for the what you’re doing.” This is moving – and rare in business. But we are the ones who are grateful for the opportunity to serve Westerville. We believe every cup of coffee contributes something small, but meaningful to the lives of others. We love what we do!
