“My art is the window into my heart and soul; the instrument that gives insight and feeling to the world around me.”

Said Oladejo-Lawal is an award-winning (incl. Best of Show at Easton and 1st Place – Fine Arts at Westerville Music and Arts Festival) who was born in western Nigeria, but has lived in the US since 2009, currently residing in the Westerville area.

He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institutes of Pittsburgh, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Painting from the prestigious Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, Nigeria. Said has his works hanging in private and corporate collections in England, Ireland, Lebanon, Nigeria and the United States.

His father was a contractor who specialized in painting and decorating houses. He exposed Said to some of the intricacies of design and inspired him to paint. Said started drawing from an early age. He began with pencils, crayons, then oil and moved on to photography, watercolor, pastel and now acrylic. Using his themes to explore the hidden parts of our daily lives, he enjoys   expressing emotions and feelings – viewing them as the essence of who we are.

“My colors are fauvist in outlook. My presentation is often classified as that of an impressionist artist. I like to use bright colors to bring nostalgia and deep emotions out of anyone who encounters my paintings. I want people to walk away feeling deeply connected with each of my art pieces. I want every experience with my artwork to be worthwhile. I enjoy bringing abstract preoccupations such as music into visual prominence. Music is said to be a thing to be heard and I am adding colors to its exploration.”

Our award-winning Java Gallery features a rotating collection of the art of up to a dozen prominent local artists. The pieces are displayed on the walls throughout our shop and many pieces on public display are available for purchase. We present oil and water color painters, charcoal and pencil specialists, photographers, and more.

Every 8 weeks we host a new featured artist and display 20+ pieces of his/her art in the Java Gallery. During the early run of their show, we hold a public reception for the artist.
