ARTIST STATEMENTS:

Here exists Art that’s made of all the things that make me, Me.
Things I do, appreciate, are passionate about, am made of…

If you look and identify with some things or many things on here, then maybe you and I aren’t as far apart as we think.
It’s about finding and appreciating the commonality in us rather than focusing on the differences.

We’re all misfits
& I think that’s beautiful.

~Jay Magruder

The World around us is filled with beauty. There are so many layers to our individual lives and they intersect at every turn, creating new textures, depth, and obscurity in our existence.

Taking nature’s elements, the ordinary things that surround our every day existence, and interlacing them together, we are given a new perspective – a new lens for viewing the complexities around us.

~Heidi Lange-Herzog (aka: Adela Silver)

Work by JON COOPER of Toronto, Ohio – talented painter and father of JC partner Megan Piper – is also on view in the Main Hallway. Jon’s subjects range from overgrown machinery and bright floral close-ups to playful scenes of cartoon-like characters happily spending time together. A common theme in his work, aside from his bright, sun-kissed color palette, seems to be an overwhelming appreciation for the beauty and variety of life.

Jon also handcrafts all of his frames and stretches his work himself. He was a middle school Art Teacher for 35 years at Liverpool Schools, and when asked by his daughter about his more recent cartoonish subjects, he responded “Working. With. Kids.”

We are thrilled to be able to host the first-ever exhibition of Jon’s work. See for yourself next time you’re in, and let us know what you think!
