Description
Java Central has long believed that community is both local and global. This is why we seek to get as much of our coffee through direct trade relationships as possible, why we will always be a safe space for everyone who walks through our doors, and why we’re proud to elevate Promise House as our new Fundraiser Blend Non-Profit Partner.
$1 per bag of this blend of Costa Rican and Guatemalan coffee will go to support Otterbein’s student-led community resource center and food pantry, Promise House, in their mission to build community to break down socioeconomic barriers to student success.
In response to the growing national trend of hunger on campus and the roadblocks identified by Otterbein students, the Promise House was opened in April 2016!
We offers services to help peers flourish including a community café, campus food pantry, referrals to community resources, peer advocacy, volunteer opportunities, and educational workshops.
Promise House resources include Food, Clothing, Financial Wellness Information, Referrals to On and Off Campus Resources, Emergency Mini-Grants for a variety of needs including car repairs, textbooks, clothing, health expenses, etc., School Supplies and Toiletries.
